ECE-R29 crash tested with a frontal impact of over 3,700 pounds and an incredible vertical load test of nearly 66,000 pounds, the Igniter cab embodies safety in all facets of its design.
The driver's field of vision is greatly enhanced with a 43.1 degree angle of view through the 4100 square inch windshield. This combination allows the driver to see the ground as close as 8' 2" in front of the cab.
Cab doors open a full 90 degrees. Coupled with its oversized steps and optimal step heights, this offers firefighters unmatched safety in cab entry and egress.
Add to these items other standard features such as full width wrap-around bumper reinforcement, easy-read instrumentation, low-rise engine cover, 28" of leg room for the driver and officer, triple sun visors, double wall front cab construction, sliding lid glove box and its easy to see that safety is engineered into every detail in the Igniter. Add to that available Independent Front Suspension, Complete Air Bag protection, Smart Wheel steering wheel and 72,000+ BTU air conditioning and you are creating a tremendous working environment for firefighters.
The Igniter cab is a spacious 100 inches wide, designed to accommodate the new 2007 engines without compromising driver and officer space. Using our Medium cab design, there is an incredible 51 inches of room from the back of the engine cover to the cab rear wall. This provides enough room for forward facing SCBA seats and/or ALS cabinets. The entire cab interior is painted with a rubberized polyester urethane resin coating, prior to any upholstery or insulation being applied, so you know all surfaces are protected. Additionally, the entire cab underside is coated as well. Finish off the cab interior with sound and heat insulation, easily maintainable upholstery, textured floor mats, diamond plate step wells and red/clear dome lights and you have a cab that will last for years of front line service.
Now look at the maintenance features built into the Igniter. Engine, transmission, ABS and other diagnostic connections are easily accessible at the driver's lower A-pillar. The chassis electrical panel is located at the center of the dash with easily removable access panel that has a pre-printed electrical schematic to easily identify relays and breakers. All wiring is indexed on as-built schematics and also features color- and function-coding. A centralized auxiliary airline manifold reduces the excessive number of pressure protection valves and also allows easy add-ons of air inlets or outlets. Air lines are all color coded for ease of maintenance. To go a step further, air lines and electric harnesses are routed down separate frame rails. Also, anywhere an electric or air line passes through a frame rail, threaded bulkhead connectors are used for lasting durability.
